history of Luxembourg

history of Luxembourg Year 9 In. I, a county by the name of Siegfried, was a Carolingian by blood. And by his mother, he belonged to Charlemagne, a rocky promoter overlooking the river Alzite from St Macmillan Abbey in Tire. According to the process of recording this transaction, at that time there was a small fortress “Lucilenburg”. It was probably of Roman origin. That’s where the name Luxembourg first appeared in history. This name will reach the city that took shape in every form, and will then be handed over to the country that was formed around that city. Nowadays, cities and countries are the same name.

According to legend, Count Siegfried will be married to Melosina, a mermaid who became part of the European folklore and was to disappear under the waves of the Alzheimer’s. Legend or not, Sieg was present at the birth of the Fred House of Luxembourg, a family which, in the 14th and first half of the 15th century, had to provide four emperors to the empire and four kings to Bohemia.

The word “Surplussed” means synonym for small fortress. This expression identifies two features that have characterized this city for a very long time.

First, the rock obtained by Sieg Fried. The promise was of clear strategic interest and gave itself a firm foothold. The city of Luxembourg was a fortified city for about 67 a thousand years until it was demolished in 1867.

Second, it will never be a big city: 5,000 inhabitants here at the beginning of the fourteenth century. The inhabitants were residents, 8,500 by the end of the 18th century, immediately after the First World War. There are 46,500 today, and there are a million people today.
Siegfried had to build a viable fort on the Promise. Knights and soldiers were built there, while craftsmen and traders settled around, the mountain group cliffs at the top and the second group below Pitt. Thus a distinction was made between the upper and lower city. No one was able to talk about a suitable city until the second half of the 12th century, when it was surrounded by rocks.

Some cities actually have a religious sanctuary, climate, river passage or crossing routes. The origins of Luxembourg are due to its disorganized position and military interests, which provoked it.

A fortress city
Since the year 963, when Count Siegfried gained a rocky reputation overthrowing the river Alzite, known as “The Book” from the end of the Middle Ages, it has undoubtedly set strategic standards. This location commended itself for its strength. The county had built a fort there, around which was found a bit of a pop-up area, which only came to merit two centuries later. It was around the middle of the 12th century that it was surrounded (to the extent of today, the Rio du Pless).

Population pressure swept westward in the fourteenth century toward the expansion of the city, in which (today to the extent of the Boulevard Royal) the construction of a new resort began. The urban area went from 5 to 23 hectares (mean 12.5 to 57.5 acres). But it would be necessary to wait until the last third of the nineteenth century, so that the city would eventually move beyond this “barrier” of goods produced in the fourteenth century.

Like many medieval cities, Luxembourg became a stronghold. In this case, there were three valleys – the south, the east, and the northeast – surrounded by the deep valleys of the River Petros and the Liszt River. Satisfied with the right things to do, these heights were absolutely incredible. In this direction, access to powerful goods was obstructed to open west and northwest.

The city had not been defeated as a rule of siege before 1443, the date when Philip the Good, the Duke of Burgundy, took it by surprise. A new era was beginning for Luxembourg, which in 1354 received the status of a Dookie. It was annexed to the Netherlands, and with them a duel was developed, which involved the Velvis-Bourbons and the Habsburgs during the 16th. 17th and 18th centuries.More History
